What Changed – Latest Update on the BISP 8171 Rs 18000 Payment

The quarterly Kafaalat payment goes up from Rs. 14,500 to Rs. 18,000. That is an extra Rs. 3,500 every quarter.

A BISP briefing reported on June 22, 2026 said Rs. 14,500 was being paid and the stipend was set to rise to Rs. 18,000 from January 2027. The increase was also written into government commitments linked to the federal budget for 2026-27.

The federal budget for 2026-27 earmarks Rs. 838 billion for BISP, up from Rs. 716 billion in 2025-26 – an increase of about 17% – as announced by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb in the June 2026 budget speech.

Second, the State Bank of Pakistan told the National Assembly Standing Committee on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety that complete digitalisation of BISP accounts is scheduled for December 31, 2026. Your wallet should be active before January.

Third, cash withdrawal from a wallet costs a fixed Rs. 280. Online and RAAST transfers, registration, checking and the SIM stay free.

BISP has not announced an exact day in January 2027 for the first payment. Anyone who gives you a fixed date today is guessing.

Eligibility Criteria

The increase is not a new scheme. Women who qualify for Kafaalat will get the higher amount if their record stays eligible in the January to March 2027 quarter.

You qualify if your household is registered in the NSER survey, your PMT score is below the cut off BISP uses for Kafaalat, and the payment is in the name of the woman of the household. Widows and divorced women get priority, and households with a disabled member are assessed at the Tehsil Office.

You also need a valid CNIC, a mobile SIM in your own name, and correct family details in NSER. If a family member is a government employee, owns large assets, or household income is above the programme limit, BISP can stop payment after review. Ask free about your PMT score at the Tehsil Office or on 0800-26477. Do not pay anyone for it.

If you got Rs. 14,500 in 2026 and your record has not changed, you do not need to apply again. BISP will apply the new amount on its own system.

Required Documents

Carry these when you visit a BISP Tehsil Office or payment point:

  • Original, valid CNIC of the woman beneficiary
  • Mobile phone and SIM in her own name
  • Children B Forms, if a record needs an update
  • Family Registration Certificate, if staff ask for it
  • Death certificate of husband, for widows updating a record
  • Disability certificate, if a household member is registered as disabled
  • The SMS from 8171, if you received one

Carry originals for biometric work.

If your free SIM or wallet is still pending, read the Benazir SIM 2026 free SIM and digital wallet guide and finish that step before December 31, 2026.

Verification and Payment Process

A delay at any stage can hold the full payment.

  1. NSER survey: Household details are recorded or updated at the Tehsil Office or Dynamic Registry centre.
  2. NADRA check: CNIC, family record and marital status are checked against NADRA data.
  3. PMT score: BISP scores your household and decides if you fall below the Kafaalat cut off.
  4. 8171 status: Your result shows by SMS to 8171 and on the portal.
  5. Biometric verification: You verify your thumbprint in person for registration, SIM or wallet activation.
  6. Wallet: Payment is linked to your Social Protection Wallet or assigned bank channel.
  7. District release: BISP releases the quarter phase wise, district by district.
  8. Money in hand: Withdraw cash for the fixed Rs. 280 charge, or transfer free by RAAST.

For office locations, see the BISP Tehsil Office 2026 guide.

Phase Wise District Details

BISP has not published a district wise date list for this quarter yet.

Payments release phase wise in every quarter. One district may open in the first week, another days later. This is normal. It does not mean your payment has been cut.

Do not travel to another district to collect early, and do not pay a shopkeeper who says he can pull your payment forward. When your phase opens, your 8171 status will change and you may get an SMS from 8171. Check the portal every two or three days during the release window.

Fraud Warning

BISP 8171 fraud warning SMS only from 8171 and helpline 0800-26477

BISP sends SMS only from 8171. A message from a mobile number or WhatsApp is not a BISP message. Checking, registration, SIM issue and wallet activation are free. BISP never asks for a fee to release a payment, and never asks for your wallet PIN, OTP or bank PIN by phone or SMS.

Never pay an agent to confirm your Rs. 18,000 or open your file early. No agent can do this. If a shop takes money from your payment, note the place and date and report it on 0800-26477.

Only use bisp.gov.pk and 8171.bisp.gov.pk. Fake pages copy the BISP name and ask for your CNIC and PIN. Our 8171 fraud alert 2026 guide lists the fake SMS and call scripts in use now.

Tips for Beneficiaries

  1. Activate your wallet before December 31, 2026. Offices will be crowded in January.
  2. Check status in December to confirm eligibility, and again after your district phase opens.
  3. Use RAAST or online transfer when you can. It is free. Cash withdrawal costs Rs. 280 each time.
  4. Withdraw cash once for a planned amount, instead of many small withdrawals.
  5. Keep your SIM in your own name. A SIM in another name is a common reason a wallet cannot be used.
  6. Keep payment SMS and receipts until the next quarter. They are your proof if an amount is short.

FAQs

When will the BISP 8171 Rs 18000 payment start?

It will start with the January to March 2027 quarter. BISP has not announced an exact day in January, and payments are released phase wise by district. Check your CNIC on 8171.bisp.gov.pk or by SMS to 8171 during January, and wait for your district phase to open.

Do I need to apply again to get Rs. 18,000?

No. Women who are already eligible for Benazir Kafaalat and were getting Rs. 14,500 do not need a new application for the increase. BISP will pay the new amount on eligible records. You only need to visit an office if your survey, CNIC, SIM or biometric record has a problem.

How much will I get in October, November and December 2026?

You will get Rs. 14,500 for the October to December 2026 quarter. The Rs. 18,000 amount does not apply to any month of 2026. Messages saying Rs. 18,000 is being paid now are wrong or fake. Keep collecting the current quarter on time and do not wait for January to collect it.

How can I check my payment by CNIC?

Send your 13 digit CNIC number, without dashes, by SMS to 8171 and read the reply. Or go to 8171.bisp.gov.pk, enter your CNIC and the code shown on the screen, and submit the form. Both methods are free and both use the same BISP record for your household.

What fee will be cut from the Rs. 18,000 payment?

Cash withdrawal from a digital wallet costs a fixed Rs. 280, so you would take home Rs. 17,720 in cash. Online transfers and RAAST transfers are free, so no charge is cut if you move the money that way. Any other cut by an agent or shopkeeper is illegal and should be reported.

What should I do before December 31, 2026?

Make sure your Social Protection Wallet is active on a SIM in your own name, your CNIC is valid, and your thumbprint verifies. The State Bank has said complete digitalisation of BISP accounts is scheduled for December 31, 2026. Finishing this in December will save you a long wait in January.

Why does my portal status show eligible but no January payment?

Eligible means your household qualifies. It does not mean your district payment has been released yet. BISP pays phase wise by district, so your turn may come days after another district. Check again after two or three days. If other women in your district are paid and you are not, call 0800-26477.

Can a man collect the Rs. 18,000 payment for his wife?

No. Kafaalat payment is in the name of the woman beneficiary, and biometric verification must be done by her in person. A husband, son or brother cannot give a thumbprint for her or collect with her CNIC. She must go herself to the office, campsite or payment point.

How do I report a fake SMS or an agent demanding money?

Trust only SMS from 8171 and call the free BISP helpline on 0800-26477 to report a fake message or a demand for money. Note the number the message came from, the shop name and the place. Never share your PIN or OTP, and never pay to release a payment.

Conclusion

The BISP 8171 Rs 18000 payment is confirmed for the January to March 2027 quarter, while October to December 2026 stays at Rs. 14,500. Activate your wallet before December 31, 2026, keep your CNIC and SIM in order, and check your status free on 8171.bisp.gov.pk or by SMS to 8171. If anything looks wrong, call 0800-26477 and do not pay any agent.
